Unlike regular drywall, there is no paper surface. The drywall is covered in fiberglass. The fiberglass surface is highly water resistant. Paperless drywall helps reduce the spread of mold. It is mold resistant, not mold proof. Other than a slightly different surface feel, you work with it just like regular drywall. I painted most of my walls in other rooms with other brands of paint over top of Valspar primer and they really turned out great. I was in the neighborhood of Lowes one night and decide to stop and buy some paint for one of my rooms. Contego PFB is a full-bodied latex, single component coating designed to protect a wide range of building materials including structural steel, aluminum, dimensional lumber, manufactured wood products, trusses, drywall, spray polyurethane foam insulation, HDPE wall panels, concrete, plaster, solid core doors and more. A 'Primer' is made mainly from fillers like talc and pigments like Titanium dioxide and is designed to fill out textural variations on drywall and to provide a good surface for the paint to stick to. Howver, primers do not contain enough resin to even out the porosity of different surfaces, such as drywall and joint compound.

It seems a little disingenuous to say "dries in 10 minutes / handle in an hour" -- because how is it dry if you can't handle it? But whatever. Nice sprayer design so the paint doesn't get on your finger. Re-painting: Re-painting a wall in the same color as self-primer paint works well because you do not have to worry about color bleed-through. Drywall: When you are painting new, unfinished drywall and you cannot stand the idea of separate priming, consider using self-primer paint. New drywall has to be primed. I'm guessing the recommended resolution is the same as for the old paint/drywall? Oil primer and then paint the wall and ceiling over again?
